ALLAN CORFIELD STRUCTURES
ACS was set up in late 2020 to provide an in-house Structural Engineering service to the Award-winning Architects – Allan Corfield Architects. However, ACS is already so much more, a standalone firm with aspirations to become one of the UK’s leading consulting engineers.
MD Allan Corfield and experienced Non-exec Director Rod McMillan will initially work with our Senior Engineer. They will then plan and run the bespoke services provided, initially to ACA’s clients but within a 12-month period, these services will be available to all.
ACS will become market leaders in the design of Modern Method of Construction buildings (MMC), including closed panel timber frames, SIPS and ICF buildings. Using state of the art BIM design and analysis software, seamlessly integrating with our in-house architecture team.

CEO & Chartered Architect
Allan Corfield trained as an architect at The Scott Sutherland School of Architecture, and after obtaining his Masters in 2005 he was quickly snapped up by Watson Burnett Architects of Edinburgh. Allan worked on a number of key projects from one off homes to large Military Facilities for the MOD, before being made redundant during the recession in 2009.
This was a turning point in Allan’s career as he went on to set up ACA from his home in Dunfermline. For the next 2 years Allan worked tirelessly to network and make local contact, giving him small domestic extensions and conversions. In 2012 ACA secured a number of one-off home commissions and commercial projects, which allowed ACA to move into new offices.
Over the past 8 years, Allan has led the way in the architectural side of both Custom & Self Build sectors, delivering seminars throughout the UK and giving keynote talks at the Homebuilding & Renovating Shows. ACA has continued to grow to a team of 14, with Allan overseeing all design work and leads a number of key projects through all stages of the build.
Allan married his partner Emma in 2014, and their first child – Flynn, was born in 2015, with little Ruairi completing the family in 2019.
Rod joined the team in 2018 as Non-Executive Director to help in ACA’s strategic business development. Rod is experienced in helping business owners and leaders with strategy, people, organisation structure, finance and commercial problem resolution.
Along with 3 co-directors he performed a Management Buy-Out of an Electronic Office Supplies company, ISA International plc. ISA’s flotation on the full list of the London Stock Exchange followed 2 years later.
For the last 25 years Rod has worked as an independent Non-Executive Director of businesses across many different sectors, from international electronics manufacturing to food production to healthcare.
