OUR APPROACH

ACS was set up in early 2021 to provide an in-house Structural Engineering service to the Award-winning Architects – Allan Corfield Architects.  In this short time ACS has already developed into a standalone firm with aspirations to become one of the UK’s leading consulting engineers.

ACS are on track to become market leaders in the design of Modern Method of Construction buildings (MMC), including closed panel timber frames,
SIPS and ICF. With the use of state-of-the-art BIM design and analysis software, ACS are able to seamlessly integrate with our in-house architecture team.

Since its inception, ACS has secured over 70 projects, and the team has grown to 9, with this continued growth, we regularly advertise for structural engineering positions in our Dunfermline office. Based in Fife, our team is led by the Technical Director & Structural Engineer David Gallagher. The focus is on continuing to implement the existing high standards of ACA’s current architectural services provided with an aligned and coordinated structural support to provide Clients with a holistic design approach. We share the office with the ACA team and we work collaboratively, maximising our projects’ potential and stimulating team member’s learning and development.

Graduate/Structural Engineer

 

We are looking for a permanent full time Graduate Structural Engineer to join our growing structural team based in our Dunfermline office.

Job Description

 

An exciting opportunity for the right graduate to join a growing Structural Engineering firm specialising in sustainable bespoke residential design.

ACS was established in 2021 and already secured almost 100 projects, and is looking to add to its growing team. ACS benefits from sharing an open plan workplace with award-winning and Urban Realm top 50 listed AC Architects specialising in the Self Build housing market since 2009.

By joining ACS, you will be joining a fast-growing and ambitious consultancy that specialise in sustainable modern methods of construction in the Self Build sector. This is a sector that, due to increasing fuel costs and recently committed government investment, is set to experience sustained and substantial growth.

About You

 

You will be a newly qualified Structural Engineer (0-2 years of experience in the industry), who has an interest in architecture and working on bespoke residential projects. You will be hard-working, ambitious and have aspirations of becoming Chartered.

The duties of this job require a high degree of specialised expertise and skill in maintaining established standards of quality and accuracy. Drive, determination, and a self-disciplined approach are necessary for successful job performance. The job environment is structured, and job expectations are clear. While the pace of the work is faster than average, quality is never compromised.

Experience with Tekla/TEDDS analysis is preferable but on project training will be provided. You will be comfortable with hand calculations and open to learning new design methods.

Responsibilities

 

You will support and be guided by our senior team, carrying out detailed structural design and analysis on our bespoke residential portfolio.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering or Structural Engineering with Architecture.

Location

The role will offer hybrid working – with the majority of the time office-based, with remote working. As our work is spread across the UK, you must be able to travel.
