Water Mill Conversion In Angus

AC Structures were appointed by the client for the structural design and SER certification for the conversion of a long-forgotten stone masonry water mill near Newtyle Angus that had recently been exposed by the client.

The new SIPS structure was designed to sit within the existing millstone walls to provide a new 2-bedroom house with vaulted ceilings and large glazed openings.

ACS provided a structural assessment of the existing building and provided a structural solution that minimised structural alterations and strengthening works. ACS worked closely with the self-build client to ensure buildability was considered throughout the design process.

The client was experienced and well informed and we worked collaboratively with them to incorporate their design contributions and solutions.

Working within the constraints of an existing structure required a high level of coordination with the design team and fully utilised the close working relationship ACS and ACA combined projects can offer.
